Desperado

Antonio Banderas stars as the mariachi without a name in this much-anticipated follow-up to the critically acclaimed El Mariachi. As the black-garbed, guitar-toting Mariachi, he plunges headlong into the dark underworld of a Mexican border town ruled by the drug lord Bucho (Joaquim de Almeida). In the previous movie Bucho killed his lover and put a bullet through his guitar-playing hand, and this time El Mariachi is out for revenge. He finds it with the help of Carolina (Salma Hayek), the sultry-eyed owner of the local bookstore, which is also a drug drop. She's taking money from Bucho, but soon she's in El Mariachi's arms. Steve Buscemi, Cheech Marin and Quentin Tarentino highlight an outstanding supporting cast in this homage to the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone.
