Tom Cruise was nominated for an Oscar® for his portrayal of a successful sports agent who is fired from a high-powered agency when he develops an honorable streak. To his dismay, he finds he has also lost most of his clients and his fiancée, publicist Avery Bishop (Kelly Preston).
