The boys from Sunset Park High are gifted young basketball players who dream of being the best-not of getting bossed around by the new female coach. But Phyllis Saroka (Rhea Perlman) has other ideas. With no previous experience with basketball, the one thing Phyllis does know is that to be the best, the players will have to learn to work as a team. While she makes a connection with star athlete Shorty (Fredro Starr) and the energetic Busy-Bee (De'aundre Bonds), she has a long way to go with the others. But by believing in them, Phyllis helps transform this talented group of mixed-up kids into a winning team that makes it all the way to the city championships. In the process, coach and teammates alike manage to find their own particular talent for the game, as well as the ability to believe in themselves.
